How your information is handled

This policy covers this website and the application form on it. It is written to be read, not to be impressive. If something here isn't clear, email jjaybeardedbarberbiz@gmail.com and ask.

Who is collecting it

What is collected, and when

When you fill in the application

You give us, and we store:

Your name, email address and phone number
Your Instagram username
Where you cut (booth rent, commission, your own shop, suite, mobile)
The monthly take-home band you select
How far ahead you are booked
What you write in the box about the biggest problem you're facing
Whether you ticked the box agreeing to be texted

The income band is a range you choose from a list. We do not ask for, and never receive, bank details, tax records or any financial account information.

When you simply visit

Whether or not you apply, the site records:

Pages viewed, and how far through a video you watched
Buttons clicked and how far through the form you reached
A random visitor ID stored in your browser, so repeat visits can be counted as one person. It is not linked to your name and identifies nobody
Your browser's user-agent string, the page that referred you, and any campaign tags on the link you arrived through

Advertising

This site uses the Meta pixel. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, Meta may be able to connect your visit here to that account, and we use that to measure which adverts work and to show adverts to people who have visited. We do not send Meta the free-text answer you wrote about your business, and we never send your income band.

You can limit this in your Meta ad settings, and browser tracking-protection or an ad blocker will usually stop the pixel loading at all.

Why it is collected

To decide whether we can help you. The qualifying answers exist so nobody is put on a call about a program that is wrong for where they are.
To contact you about your application and your call.
To run the calls — scheduling, reminders, and following up.
To measure the site and the advertising so money isn't spent on adverts that don't work.

Who it is shared with

It is never sold, and it is never given to anyone for their own marketing. It is handled by the companies that run parts of this operation:

Supabase — the database the application is stored in
Cal.com — booking and calendar
Kit (ConvertKit) — the emails you receive
Twilio — the text messages, if you agreed to them
Meta — advertising measurement, as described above
Netlify — hosting

Each holds only what it needs. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Text messages

Texts are sent only if you ticked the box on the application. It is optional, and leaving it unticked does not affect your application.

You will get a booking confirmation and a reminder before your call. Reply STOP to any message to stop them permanently, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Your phone number is never sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Emails

Applying subscribes you to emails about your application and your call. Every one has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and unsubscribing stops them immediately.

How long it is kept

Application details are kept for as long as there is a live reason to — while we're in contact, and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we recognise you if you come back. Analytics records are kept for up to 24 months. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Your rights

If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information is held about you, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. You will never be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to it being processed.

To exercise any of these, email jjaybeardedbarberbiz@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the email address you applied with, so that nobody can request someone else's information.

Security

The application is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a database that is configured to accept new applications but not to hand them back out — the key used by this website can write, and cannot read. No system is perfectly secure, and we don't claim otherwise.

Children

This is for working barbers and stylists and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be notified by email to anyone who has applied.
